Singing in times of Covid-19Well here we are, in the time of Corona. So much has happened in the past week – today it is Tuesday 17th March 2020, and it’s been about a week since Australia has started taking things seriously.

For me personally, it was only when one of my choristers, who is a doctor by day, started posting rather strong and unambiguous messages on Facebook that I actually started to sit up and take notice.

His message was – stay home now people. This is serious. We need to take note of this pandemic.

As a result I have now suspended all my face to face classes. I did the last one yesterday in Kingscliff, with 5 people – obviously most people are staying away, because normally there are between 15 and 20 people who come to this group.

Here is what I have decided to do:

  1. Make a series of videos to put up on Youtube via Facebook and this website – one song at a time, mostly with lyrics sheets and a short performance of the song. You can join my youtube channel HERE
  2. Using Zoom I will run some live classes at the same time as my face to face classes – so that is Mondays 9.30, Tuesdays 11.30 and Thursdays 10.30. You can join in and pay via Paypal if you don’t have a 5 or 10 class pass. Feel free to donate any amount if you feel you’d like to support me through these times!
  3. I have also set up a Patreon account – Patreon is an online patronage service, where people can support artists with a monthly amount which is debited from your bank account at the beginning of every month. So if you like what I do, and would like to support me in anyway – have a look at Patreon! Click HERE
  4. You can also go onto the Facebook group for the Big Song – click HERE.,

Stay tuned for my next post – I’ll be writing all about the vagus nerve!
