Jay Shah, the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), got in touch with Ishan Kishan after the Mumbai Indians (MI) shockingly lost to the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on Sunday.

Experienced spinner Dafabet outlasted MI captain Hardik Pandya in a dramatic encounter that culminated in a thrilling final-over thriller for the 2022 champions at the Narendra Modi Stadium on matchday five of the IPL 2024.

After the match, Shah was seen having a long talk with MI batsman-wicketkeeper Kishan. Shah was present when GT and MI played in the 2024 Indian Premier League. Kishan and Shah greeted each other, shaking hands and discussing the game.

The brief social media exchange between the Rummy Golds secretary and the MI gloveman caught the attention of IPL fans. Following his dismissal from the BCCI, Kishan made a comeback to competitive cricket in the lead-up to the IPL 2024.

Out of date Kishan and KR captain Shreyas Iyer were removed from the BCCI’s central contracts list after they ignored the board’s directive to compete in the Ranji Trophy.

Centrally contracted players were reportedly told by BCCI secretary Shah not to prioritize the IPL above local cricket since doing so could have dire implications. After not making an appearance for Jharkhand in the Ranji season, Kishan’s contract with the BCCI was terminated before the 2024 Indian Premier League.

In the just concluded Mumbai Indians game against the Gujarat Titans, Kishan, the team’s opening player, had a lot to prove. However, Kishan’s start to the most recent IPL Betway season was dreadful.

Kishan was removed by GT’s Azmatullah Omarzai for a four-ball duck in the fifth IPL 2024 match. It’s noteworthy that Kishan’s old India colleague Iyer also recorded a duck in his debut IPL 2024 match.
