Festival for Elizabeth
Saturday 24th February 2018
When Janet Swain asked her mother how she wanted to celebrate her 80th birthday, the response was – ‘Oh, nothing really’. However, when pushed, the truth came out, and the result is the Festival For Elizabeth, to be presented at Brunswick Picture House on Saturday 24th February, at 5.30pm.
Two pieces of music, dear to Elizabeth’s heart and history, will be performed – Come Ye Sons of Art by Henry Purcell – written in 1694 to honour the birthday of Queen Mary II, followed by a dinner break. After dinner, in complete contrast, the company will present Gilbert and Sullivan’s Trial by Jury – starring several local identities, with chorus of all and sundry, including orchestra. Conducted by Elizabeth Swain (working on her birthday!) and directed by Janet Swain and Ollie Heathwood.
Come and celebrate with us! This has to be the best deal in town – you will get two shows plus canapés and refreshments during the dinner break, two totally different musical experiences – from the elegantly sublime to the ridiculously raunchy. The cafe will also be open for dinner before, during and after the show. Bring your own wine or champagne.
Tickets – $40 or $35 – available at www.brunswickpicturehouse.com
